Proton Production in d+Au Collisions and the Cronin Effect
نویسندگان
چکیده
Proton production in the intermediate pT region in d+Au collisions is studied in the parton recombination model. The recombination of soft and shower partons is shown to be important in central collisions, but negligible in peripheral collisions. It is found that the large nuclear modification factor for proton production can be well reproduced by a calculation of the 3-quark recombination process.

Identified Particle Production in p + p , d + Au , and Au + Au Collisions at RHIC
Measurements of identified particle production with the PHENIX experiment at RHIC have reached a mature state, where a multitude of nuclear systems at different colliding energies have been studied. The discovery configurations of √ sNN = 130 and 200 GeV Au+Au collisions have now been supplemented by additional Au+Au and Cu+Cu configurations at various energies, along with baseline p+p and d+Au...
متن کاملIdentified hadron spectra from pp, dA and AA collisions
The experimental data for identified hadron spectra from pp, d+A and AA collisions are reviewed. Three regions with different dominant production mechanisms are considered: soft region (pT < 2 GeV/c) – with large degree of collectivity and thermalization, hard particle production which exhibits jet-quenching in Au+Au collisions at RHIC and intermediate region (2< pT <5 GeV/c) with distinct bary...
متن کاملSuppression of high transverse momentum hadrons at RHIC by (pre–) hadronic final state interactions
We investigate transverse hadron spectra from proton+proton, deuteron+Au and Au+Au collisions at √ s = 200GeV and √ s = 17.3GeV within the Hadron–String– Dynamics (HSD) approach which is based on quark, diquark, string and hadronic degrees of freedom as well as Pythia calculations for the high p⊥ spectra. The comparison to experimental data on transverse mass spectra from p+p, d+Au and Au+Au re...
متن کاملParton Recombination at All P T
Hadron production at all p T in heavy-ion collisions in the framework of parton re-combination is reviewed. It is shown that the recombination of thermal and shower partons dominates the hadron spectra in the intermediate p T region. In d + Au collisions , the physics of particle production at any η is basically the same as at η = 0. The Cronin effect is described as a result of the final-state...
متن کاملCronin Effect in Proton-nucleus Collisions: a Survey of Theoretical Models∗
I compare the available theoretical models that describe the Cronin effect on hadron and minijet production in proton-nucleus collisions, pointing out similarities and differences among them. The effect may be summarized by the value of two variables. Their values computed in the different models are compared in the energy range 27.4 GeV 5500 GeV. Finally, I propose to use the pseudorapidity sy...
